Hello everyone,
This is the very first post for Food & Fandom!
At first I thought I'd like to write a big speil about myself and who I am to debut this blog as something worth looking at, but I doubt anyone truly gives a shit about that so I'll keep it short.
My name is Pluto, I'm a 24 year old and I am a life long nerd, pervert, and food lover. I am disabled and struggle with being a part of normal society, I can relate a lot to the types of people who might call themselves outcasts. I've found that the internet has been a great way to meet people and push my boundries in terms of socializing and being open with people and displaying all my bullshit and baggage on this new blog of mine seems to be the next step in my journey to becoming a normie!
I started this blog because I don't know of any other like it and I'm looking to fill the niche of pornsick foodies who love both fandom culture and stuffing their faces with home cooked food stuffs. I want to meet like minded peeps who want to talk about good food and the craziness that is fandom is the 21st century.
This blog will explore otaku culture, my grocery hauls, and the daily meals I make. Because of this wide swath of topics, this blog is 18+! Be prepared to see fictional/animated pornography as well as home cooked dinners!
If you like my writing then please like and subscribe. I dream of a day I can make actual money from jacking off to hentai and baking shepard's pie. 😳
My posts will usually consistent of three parts.
#1. Grocery hauls. This is the part where I will post about new foods I have bought and tried
#2. Cooking. This part will show off dishes I have recently cooked.
#3. And thirdly, the last portion of my posts will consistent of talking about anime/hentai/fandom culture, showing off nerdy shit I've recently bought, and talking about recent fandom happenings.
Im not a stickler for formatting though so most of these topics will be interspersed throughout my posts rather than annoyingly itemized.
I hope you enjoy my blog and tell your like minded friends about!

Hot sauce haul!
Today was a good day in terms of finding new condiments to spice things up! I have always been a lover of spicy foods since I was a stupid little baby and recently I have decided to branch out and try some of the mega hot peppers that far secede the typical Tabasco and Sriracha that most people are accustomed to.
Enter the ghost pepper 🌶️. The ghost pepper 🌶️ is the very first mega hot I have tried and I find that it's probably a good start for most people looking to test their ability to stomach hardcore spiciness. Unlike other super hots, the ghost pepper is what you would call a "slow burn", that's to say that normally when you eat hot sauce there is a sharp stinging sensation that instantly invades your mouth, especially your tongue. Ghost peppers 🌶️ on the other hand have a heat that gradually builds over time.
Ghost pepper 🌶️ heat also affects different parts of the body. The heat from a ghost pepper 🌶️ lasts about 10-15 minutes and will usually make your chest feel very warm, while having a lighter effect on your tongue. Ghost pepper 🌶️ is a pepper that feels like a very warm hug, as apposed to having your tongue burned with a lighter, lol. Because of this I find it a lot more enjoyable than the mouth scalding types.
Today I decided to take a look around New Seasons Market, something I rarely do because they are tend to be overpriced and cater specifically to the stuck up upper middle class whites that have taken over Portland, Or. I'm talking $6 milk and $16 a pound mushrooms... Whatever, I decided to go anyway, even the bougiest grocery store can be good for some specialty items that can't be found anywhere else.
I was very surprised to find ghost pepper hot sauce there. It's usually pretty hard to find any sort of mega hot products at normal grocery stores. I usually see that type of thing reserved for small speciality shops.
Here are the 3 different sauces I picked up + some other stuff I thought was fun.
Dave's Gourmet Ghost Pepper Hot Sauce.
The very first mega hot sauce I tried, it might be why I purchased my second bottle today. Dave's Gourmet Ghost Pepper Sauce honestly isn't that special. It brings the heat and has a pleasant flavor, but the heat is the only thing that distinguishes itself from other hot sauces. It still has the same old same old vinegar taste of most other sauces and I find it a bit boring. Nonetheless it's a good starter sauce and goes well with most anything because the taste itself gets easily lost when paired with stronger flavored foods. 6/10
Adoboloco Hamajang Smokey Ghost Pepper Sauce
I haven't tried Adoboloco Hamajang Smokey Ghost Pepper Sauce on food yet but after a taste test I have to say I like it a lot! I was skeptical at first because "smokey" usually means chipotle, which I am not personally a fan of, but the smokey flavor is very subtle. Mostly this sauce packs a punch of saltiness which I like, and a medium amount of vinegar flavor. I think this sauce would probably be really good on a steak!
8/10
Truff Black Truffle Infused Hot Sauce
Yes, I decided to finally try it, the hot sauce that Instagram foodie influencers don't seem to want to shut up about. I've seen countless photoshopped posts of copious amounts of this stuff being poured over mainly hamburgers and when I saw it today I just thought fuck it how bad can it be?
So I'm going to be honest here. Truff tastes exactly likethe cheap tomato sauce from a can of Chef Boyardee raviolis... It's very sweet and hardly has any heat. I was very surprised when I read the ingredients and didn't see high fructose corn syrup as one of the main ingredients, instead they named cane sugar and agave nectar as the two culprits. I can see now why people tend to dump this all over their food, it's definitely more of just a sauce than a "hot" sauce. I can't say that I'm a huge fan, especially after spending nearly $20 on a small bottle of it. It's notoriously pricy and I just cant see why when it literal tastes like cheap sugary tomato sauce... Its my fault for letting Instagram foodies tell me what to eat I guess...
4/10
Topo Chico Mineral Water from Mexico
What can I say, I love spicy water, aka carbonated. I know people say La Croix tastes like "fruit sweat" but I could care less. I used to drink so little water that it's a wonder I didn't die. After I found carbonates water that all change. I chug that shit. Honestly all mineral water seems to taste the same but I continue to buy new brands because it's fun and keeps me thinking about how much I'm hydrating with something other than vodka. It was good spicy, clean tasting water.
10/10
Pacific Wild Caught Keta Salmon Nova Lox
I had a bagel for lunch that I didn't feel like blogging about. I picked up this smoked salmon at New Seasons thinking it was traditional lox but alas it was not. I was not a fan of the texture. It was too dry for my liking and very crumbling. I could hardly get full strips of it on the bagel because it kept coming apart in my hands so I kinda just had to mash it on top of the bagel in little piles. I'm not a fan of store bought lox for numerous reasons but mainly it's because I have made my own lox countless times and it's pretty much like eating an entirely different food in terms of the differing quality. I will definitely be blogging about homemade salmon lox in the future because they are amazing anso fucking easy tod literally anyone to make. Trust me, you'll stop buying store bought lox unlesa you're dangerously lazy like I tend to be.

I didn't actually use any hot sauce in tonight's dinner lol. I opted to bake a large beef liver with shallots and mushroom gravy.
Anyone who knows me knows that I HATE baking things. For all that I love to cook the oven has continued to be my mortal enemy and the cast iron pan my best friend. I hate just sitting around waiting for something to cook. I like cooking when it requires active participation and the cast iron pan is best cooking tool for that sort of experience. I like chopping and mixing things while I hear the sound of my earlier ingredients sizzling in the pan. I like to watch things brown and carmalize. So when I chose to cook the liver in the oven this evening I was decidedly winging it.
I googled how long to bake a "large" liver and Google said 25 minutes. Turned out I needed about 40... That being said it turned out great! It it could have gone for about 3 minutes less since it was hardly what you could call "a little pink in the middle" but it still came out with a a firm, creamy texture with none of the gravellyness of an overdone liver.
To make the gravy for the liver I first carmalized some lovely and sweet shallots
Shallots are great for carmalizing and make a great topping alone for any food cut of red meat. I diced them into very small pieces and after they had browned a bit I added white mushrooms which are great as a base for sauces and soups
They don't have as much flavor as other mushrooms so I mainly use them for texture.
After thee mushrooms had lost most of their moister and the shallots were sufficiently carmalized I added in some cooking Sherry to wash off some of the glaze from the pan and to give the sauce a sweet tangyness.
I then added in the drippings from the liver, about 1/4th a cup of water, 2 teaspoons of fresh ground black better, and then slowly as I mixed the gravy I added about a table spoon and a half of flour to thicken. After it was thickened to my liking I spooned it over thin slices of the baked liver.
I decided not to cook a side dish tonight and instead substituted with my favorite premade Salad from New Seasons that I'd had in the past, it's a creamy and sweet blend of minced broccoli & bacon with grapes and slivered almonds in a mayonnaise and chia seed dressing.
The plated salad and liver. Let's give me a pat on the back for trying to eat healthy!
Offals (organs) are an especially good part of the meat that contain very high amounts of vitamins and minerals.
Liver is one of the most nutritionally dense foods on the planet. It contains reccomend daily amounts of folate, iron, vitamin B, vitamin A, and copper in only 3 ounces.
Lots of people tend to be grossed out by organ meats, but I firmly believe that it's because they are very tricky to cook and they've probably never had them cooked by someone who knows what they are doing. Organ meats are very easy to overcook and when that happens they can be quite disgusting. Liver when overcooked takes on a very mealy texture like little lint balls or pieces or rice, so I can understand why a badly cooked one could put someone off it for life.
I would give this dinner a 7/10. Passable within my own expectations but I definitely think I could have done better. News flash, I always think I can do better.

Today in the land of pre-orders, I finally received an ugly little Breaking Bad figure featuring none other than that slimy good for nothing lawyer Saul Goodman. I've become a huge fan of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul over the past two years and have started collecting merchandise in tandem with my viewing.
Unfortunately it seems that majority of companies creating BrBa goods are allergic to the idea of "cute" or "chibi" in terms of aesthetics so almost all of the official character merch is relegated to the style of Funko Pops and uncanny valley realistic bobble heads.
What can I do but suck it up and be a consumerist whore?
Shouldn't I be happy they are making merch of my favorite character? Anyway, I'm always hoping that contributing my funds to official merch will sooner or later spawn a new set of figures from a new company who sees how popular the ugly figures out and wants to make something better.
Breaking Bad Nendoroids when!? WHEN!?
I guess I just enjoy bitching though because I actually have a preorder scheduled for 2022 of an amazingly cute Saul Goodman figure from the Chinese company Present Toys.
Given, it is a whopping $150 not including shipping, but at least it exsists right? The earlier version by the company ThreeZero is going for a whopping $350-$400 so yeah, I'll suck it up and be happy.
Well, I hope you enjoyed reading the first post from Food and Fandom. I will try mightily to upload once every week but honestly who knows. I'm not good with this kind of stuff but I just thought I'd give it a try since my friends have been nagging me about starting a cooking blog for the better half of the past 3 years. 😳 Here it is dudes! Take it or leave it! 😎
